Rules and automation
Every reading goes through a flow of rules that decides what to do with it: store it, compute, alert or send it to another system.

Rules define how the platform behaves for every data point that arrives. They are built in a visual editor, as a diagram of connected steps, without programming; and when a case calls for it, a step can carry a purpose-written transformation.
Some values are measured by no sensor but derive from those that are: an average per room, the accumulated time out of range, a process quantity from a 4–20 mA signal. The platform calculates them in real time and treats them like any other reading.
A scheduler runs tasks on fixed dates or periodically: generating a report, changing the configuration of a group of devices or sending them a command.
A specialist replies with the solution, the instrument and the service that fit.
